USA -- Narciso Rodriguez, known for his sleek and sculpted fashion design, receives the distinguished title of "Mercedes-Benz Presents" designer for this season's spring 2010 fashion shows at Bryant Park from September 10-17, 2009.

Returning to the iconic tents of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week for a second season, Narciso Rodriguez is showing his collection on Tuesday, September 15th at 8:00 PM at the Tent at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Bryant Park. As a Mercedes-Benz Presents designer, Narciso is being recognized and supported for his dedication to quality materials, unique style and innovative design.

"It is a great honor to have been chosen by Mercedes-Benz as their Presents designer," said Rodriguez. "We are both dedicated to innovation in design and the highest level of quality." Narciso joins an influential group of past Mercedes-Benz Presents designers including Monique Lhuillier, Badgley Mischka, Yigal Azrouel, Red Carter and CHADO Ralph Rucci.

"Narciso Rodriquez is a perfect choice to be the Mercedes-Benz Presents designer as his clothes are designed and executed with the same precision, structure and attention to detail as a Mercedes-Benz," said Fern Mallis, SVP of IMG Fashion.

Mercedes-Benz made its selection for this season's Presents designer based on Rodriguez's classic yet modern collections that reflect a sleek and structured approach. "The spring 2010 Collection was greatly influenced by the sculpture of Barbara Hepworth," added Rodriguez. "The three dimensional and graphic shapes that are her work became a constant source of inspiration while I sketched and created the coming season."

He received his formal education at the prestigious Parsons School of Design in New York and is the first designer to win the Council of Fashion Designers of America Womenswear Designer of the Year Award, two years in a row. His designs have been worn by celebrities including Sarah Jessica Parker, Claire Danes and First Lady Michelle Obama.

Narciso Rodriguez is among more than sixty designers that will present their spring 2010 collections at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, including Diane von Furstenberg, Michael Kors, Phillip Lim 3.1 and HERVE LEGER by MAX AZRIA.

Narciso Rodriguez has redefined American style over the last two decades, designing key looks in popular culture including Michelle Obama's Election Day dress and the wedding gown that Carolyn Bessette wore when she married John Kennedy, Jr. His style is American with a European influence and Latin at heart pulling inspiration from architectural design, haute couture and his Cuban heritage.
 
Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week
