Russell Microcap Index to add Charles and Colvard

Morrisville, N.C.--Moissanite maker Charles and Colvard announced today that it will join the Russell Microcap Index later this month.

In a news release, Charles and Colvard stated that the company is slated to join the index when Russell Investments reconstitutes its family of U.S. indexes on June 25, according to a preliminary list of additions posted June 11 on Russell.com.

Membership in the Russell Microcap Index, which remains in place for one year, entails automatic inclusion in the appropriate growth and value style indexes. Russell determines membership for its equity indexes primarily using objective market capitalization rankings and style attributes, according to the release.

Russell indexes are widely used by investment managers and institutional investors for index funds and as benchmarks for both passive and active investment strategies, the release states. An industry-leading $3.9 trillion in assets currently are benchmarked to Russell indexes.

Morrisville, N.C.-based Charles and Colvard also is listed on the Nasdaq. The company was once in danger of getting delisted because its stock was trading at too low a price, but Charles and Colvard announced in December that it had regained compliance and that the matter was closed.

"We are extremely pleased to be included in the Russell Microcap Index," Charles and Colvard Chief Executive Officer Randy McCullough said in the release. "We believe the results of our diligent work over the past six months to improve our financial performance and stock price have been validated by the selection of our company by Russell Investments for benchmarking the true microcap opportunity."
