PGI-USA calls for 'entry-level' platinum designs

New York--Platinum Guild International USA (PGI-USA) has announced an industry-wide call for platinum at entry-level prices in an effort to make platinum more affordable and accessible to retail customers.

The marketing arm for the platinum industry said in a media release that it is looking for "entry platinum" product to promote this year in a variety of consumer communications outlets.

By submitting their designs, manufacturers and designers will have the opportunity to have their products be considered for all PGI-USA consumer communications throughout 2010-2011, including the Platinum Innovation Challenge JCK 2010, PGI's JCK Hospitality Suite, national print and online advertising, and public relations and publicity outreach. Images will also appear in the Design Gallery on PreciousPlatinum.com and will be considered for PGI's bi-annual Editor Days, platinum jewelry showcases for consumer and trade editors.

The submitted products can be new designs or existing designs but must meet International Organization for Standards guidelines, meaning the products must feature at least 850 parts per thousand platinum. The designs can include diamonds or gemstones, and must meet one of the following price-point categories: platinum engagement ring semi-mounts under $1,000 retail or under $2,500 retail; platinum engagement ring complete piece under $2,500 retail; platinum wedding bands (men's and women's) under $500 retail, under $1,000 retail or under $1,500 retail; and finally, platinum fashion jewelry under $2,000 retail or under $3,500 retail.

"We need your help to create and produce platinum product at a variety of price points that will enable customers to purchase the product that they desire," PGI-USA said in the release.
