Paragon Lake launches jewelry design competition

Lexington, Mass.--Jewelry marketplace Paragon Lake has announced the launch of a national jewelry design competition aimed at building community and demonstrating the storytelling value of one-of-a-kind jewelry.

Designers are invited to sign up on the Paragon Lake Designer Portal for the "Inspired Design Contest," which aims to attract talented jewelry designers who will help inspire the design community, retailers and consumers through original earring, ring and pendant designs featured in conjunction with the story of each design's inspiration.

Judges for the contest will include Jennifer Heebner of JCK magazine, Greg Stopka of Northern California retailer JewelSmiths, Tony Rodrigues of Paragon Lake and award-winning designer Jose Hess, each of whom will make their selections based upon the quality, creativity and manufacturability of each one-of-a-kind design, as well as the story behind it.

"The design contest is a natural extension of our market development and enthusiasm among designers, retailers and consumers for one-of-a-kind jewelry," Paragon Lake Chief Executive Officer Deb Besemer said in a media release. "We are thrilled to be able to reward talented designers for creativity and stunning designs."

The competition offers three levels of prizes, including cash and goods, such as a Wacom CintiQ monitor plus $1,000 in cash, a Canon EOS Rebel XSi camera plus $500 in cash, and an iPod Touch with $100 in cash.

The winning designs will be featured on Paragon Lake's Web site, ParagonLake.com, and will also be highlighted on the company's Virtual Display Case, a 3D showcase featuring what Paragon Lake describes as an "infinite inventory of designs created by a global community of fine jewelry designers."

The deadline for entries is Aug. 7, 2009, and all award winners will be notified by Aug. 17.
