SMART Jewelry to debut 'Generation Next' designers

Chicago--The next edition of the SMART Jewelry Show, to be held from April 24-26, 2010, at the Navy Pier in Chicago, will debut a "Generation Next" pavilion, an exclusive forum in which 24 of today's most creative, independent designers will join together to shape the future of jewelry.

Based on a yearly feature in InDesign Magazine, which is co-presenting the new pavilion, Generation Next showcases a select grouping of the brightest jewelry stars, each with a distinctive signature style and design sensibility that combines superb artisan hand-craftsmanship and timeless wearability, show organizers said in a media release.

"We are now offering the opportunity to conveniently shop the designs of tomorrow in an intimate space," Generation Next Creative Director Beth Bernstein said in the release. "We have brought these designers together in a convenient location so that American leading retailers can work toward developing new partnerships and infuse their stores with exciting collections that can be built into the next brands. This group can easily sell alongside established houses and attract both regular clients and new customers, which is so important as we go forward in our business."

Participating designers include: Alberian and Aulde, Amali, Belle Brooke, Danielle Meshorer, Dawes Design, Elyssa Bass, Erica Molinari, Fern Freeman, Lauren Harper, Laurie Kaiser, Megan Thorne, Moritz Glik, Misha of NY, Nina Basharova, Ray Griffith, Rebecca Overmann, Robin Haley, Sofia Kaman for Kamofie, Stephanie Albertson, Studio Waterfall, Suzy Landa, Vicente Agor, Yasuko Azuma and Zil.

SMART Jewelry Show Director Jim Reed said he is excited about presenting this new section within the show.

"Our new Generation Next pavilion, in conjunction with our current InDesign Pavilion, will provide the jewelry retailer with a great selection of unique designer jewelry," Reed said in the release. "These pavilions support pursuing new directions, increasing business and creating and building fresh opportunities within our ever-changing industry."
